            the cooler weather is a reminder not only that fall is upon us but also how many weeks we have been teaching and learning as an on-campus o’neal community.  the daily events that make up school life are now routines. our teachers and coaches have gone above and beyond to make this year as engaging and as normal as possible, and they deserve all our thanks.

            covid protocols are stressed and new faculty announced

            it has been an exciting couple of weeks as our students and teachers work and learn together across campus.  teenagers are still tired at drop-off and young children cannot contain their excitement from being with their friends after such a long time away, but we are all happy to be together to share the experiences of this academic year.

            once again, thank you everyone who has reached out with questions and ideas about o’neal’s reopening plan.  we are a community united in our care for o’neal and for one another, and your support is appreciated.  even as i write this, preparations are going into place all over campus.  our incredible faculty has returned and are busy with specialized training ahead of welcoming students back to their classes.

            thank you to the many parents who contacted me so positively and constructively about o’neal’s reopening plan. your thoughts and ideas have been invaluable. announcements regarding north carolina public schools do not alter our plans for on-campus programming. o’neal is ready to meet all requirements, including safety protocols and distancing requirements, and our first day of school remains august 11th.

            o'neal joins national consortium: one schoolhouse

            i am pleased to announce that o’neal has joined a nationwide consortium of independent schools called one schoolhouse. formerly, the online school for girls, one schoolhouse is an nais school offering online courses, taught by independent school teachers who share o’neal’s academic standards and value student-teacher relationships. in addition, the upper school will now be able to support students admitted to the north carolina school of science and mathematics to attend the ncssm online program.
